Scrabble Documentary

Scrabble Documentary

It was some time in 2007 when Richard Fairgray came to Lisa Dunn and said "Lisa, I think we should make a documentary about professional Scrabble players in New Zealand." Lisa, very enthused, agreed with Richard, and they enlisted the help of Sam Coley. The three of them had just begun nosying around Scrabble club meetings with film equipment, when they realised - the Mt Albert 25th Anniversary Tournament was mere months away, and there were Scrabblers outside of Auckland who still needed to be interviewed. They set off around the North Island, sending a postcard from every stop, and interviewed New Zealand's most talented wordsmiths, trying to determine who would win the Mt Albert Tournament.

Currently, the Scrabble documentary sits untouched somewhere inside an enormous pile of DV tapes. It should be ready for your viewing pleasure around mid 2008.

"I'm excited about seeing the documentary, it sounds really exciting." - Former rally car driver, Robyn King.

"It sounds about as gripping as double sided tape." - Disc Jockey, Peter Dunn.
